Kidney stones often do not cause any symptoms. Usually, the first symptom of a kidney stone is extreme pain, which begins suddenly when a stone moves in the urinary tract and blocks the flow of urine. Typically, a person feels a sharp, cramping pain in the back and side in the area of the kidney or in the lower abdomen. Sometimes nausea and vomiting occur. Later, pain may spread to the groin.

The main symptom a kidney stone  is severe pain that starts suddenly and may go away suddenly:

  • Pain may be felt in the belly area or side of the back

  • Pain may move to groin area (groin pain) or testicles (testicle pain)

Other symptoms can include:

  • Abnormal urine color

  • Blood in the urine

  • Chills

  • Fever

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

Kidney stones that don't cause these symptoms may show up on X-rays when you seek medical care for other problems, such as blood in your urine or recurring urinary tract infections.

In summary, the most common kidney stones symptoms is unbearable pain in the lower groin and abdomen. Such type of pain is quite acute and in certain cases the pain is so severe to the point that a person many not be able to step out up to the doctor for medical help. However, it is better to be precautious in order to keep away yourself from kidney stones.
